Gundam UC Episode 5 'The Black Unicorn' Theatrical Exclusive HGUC 1/144 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee NT-D Clear Ver.

Hi folks, so sorry for the delay in posting on my blog for awhile now. Just like to wish all readers celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Snake a very Happy and Prosperous year ahead.  Bought something rather interesting as far as clear -plastic limited items go, and it's none other than another special Bandai Tamashi web exclusive toy, courtersy of uber on line GUNPLA store: GG Infinite.com

Pretty rad considering that this item is rather difficult to come by and limited to one order per person. So if you are a GUNPLA collector, and would like something discerning added to your limited space/ carefully selected collection, or heck- if you just are into clear plastic toys, then this release is highly recommended.

WING_SABER-TOYS 2013 PREVIEW. A NEW BEGINNING FOR NEW ACQUISITIONS!

Happy New Year, fellow readers! I do trust that your festive celebrations went swimmingly well?!
Got some rather exciting news coming your way, people. For 2013, there will be some really neat and exciting releases planned, chiefly the announcement of Masterpiece MP-13 Soundwave and his Cassette Minions, Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw and Ravage. Not to mention the continuation of the Takaratomy Fall of Cybertron line, as well as the season 3 continuity of Transformers Prime, which will carry the Beast Hunters tagline. Oh and thrown in the awesome news that the Takaratomy's Encore Generation 1 reissue line will continue with Fortress Maximus and we have a pretty busy 2013 year of collecting in-store! So sit back and Enjoy the ride, guys!

As for me personally, the start of the year will bring a realization that, whilst I have to control the amount of expenditure that I usually splurge on my collection, it most certainly doesn't mean that I will completely miss out on my fair share of some gems which I have been keeping a rather keen interest on since the year ended a couple of days ago.

I have decided to get at least two vintages for this year, and who knows after that maybe just to tie up afew loose ends for my personal G1 list. As for the current consensus of Ehobby and Japanese exclusive releases, I will have to see if these hold any interest for me, as I have adhered to only getting black and exclusive 'crystal' or clear plastic releases only. Well, that's all folks! Watch this space for more Transformers related news for the rest of the year!

UPDATE: MORE TRANSFORMERS PRIME ARMS MICRON RELEASES DUE DECEMBER 2012~

Hi folks, WSX here bringing you another piece of collecting update that I am personally psyched about. Arms Micron releases scheduled for December 2012. brings some exciting new characters to the fold.

Japanese toy company Takaratomy  has updated their website listings for three future Arms Micron releases: AM-27 Ultra Magnus (a redeco of the recently release Voyager Ultra Magnus with a new Arms Micron hammer), AM-28 Leo Prime (a redeco of Thundertron in colors resembling those of Lio Convoy from Beast Wars II, with a Micron companion resembling Moon, from the same show.) and AM-29 Shockwave

Story linked and credited to Uber fan-site TFW2005. These Voyager class toys will retail for approx 4,200 Yen and the deluxe at 2,100 Yen. Steep prices, but totally worth the time as the decos are much more inspired compared to Hasbro's versions IMHO. Add to the fact that Arm Micron toys/ weapons are fun to assemble and play with, it lends more in terms of value -add playability to the figures themselves. Really looking forward to getting these added to my ever growing collection!

TAKARA TOMY'S FALL OF CYBERTRON TOYS- SHINIER AND MORE DESIRABLE!

Hi peoples! Just a quick and exciting update which I'd thought I'd share with you guys. Recently announced and released ACTUAL, in-hand retail pictures from Takaratomy's  Transformers Generations:- FALL OF CYBERTRON toy-line which is slated to be the mainstay collector-centric line to get for the 2013

Amazon Japan has graciously posted upcoming versions for Fall of Cybertron Combaticons aka Bruticus, Kickback, Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus, Fireflight, Starscream and Voyager releases of Soundblaster and Soundwave with 'Buzzsaw' and 'Lazerbeak' 'Cybertronian Discs'.

Hand on heart, and gotta admit that these are indeed exciting times to be a Transformers aficionado, and Takaratomy has delivered once again, after taking some flak recently on skimping on the Quality Control of their products, which coincidentally has been in recent times, made in Vietnam- but I digress, and will most likely be picking these much more collector grade versions of their  rather bland and uninspiring Hasbro releases in the near future, which  coincidentally means as soon as these are available through the regular Japan-Hobby online-outlets. All credit must go toward uber-fan site TFW2005 for first posting the news for which inspired me to post this entry in the first place. :D

Meantime, Pre-orders are up on several sites such as Robotkingdom, etoysjapan and BBTS, just to name afew--to those who are looking to secure their collector-grade toys!

New pictures of Transformers Prime Voyagers Thundertron and Ultra Magnus!

Hi folks, WSX here back to give a preview of what to me personally are another two excellent additions to the already awesome TF: Prime toyline in the form of Thundertron and Ultra Magnus! These are the Hasbro US versions, and also please take note that Takaratomy will also be releasing theirs in the next couple of months.

Pics, news linked / credited are courtersy of Robotkingdom, Tformers.com, HK-Transformers and TFW2005

Really stoked for these both as their designs are pretty solid, especially for Ultra Magnus as his smaller and Legends Class version was already a winner.  These should hit retail outlets sometime soon maybe in a week's time! Stay tuned when I find them and buy them!

TRANSFORMERS PRIME: GAIA UNICRON, ARMS MASTER PRIME AND MASTERPIECES!

Hi folks, just an interesting update for those who were thinking of grabbing Gaia Unicron from TF: Prime. Here are some pics courtersy of TFW2005 member Gaokaiser taken from a Japanese Hobby message board. I have put in my pre-orders and based on the picture, Gaia Unicron is one mean design which although not 'planet sized' he would go pretty well with all the TF: Prime Cyberverse mini-figs! More details in the link and to get your pre-orders, please visit etoysjapan and Robotkingdom for all your Transformers collection needs!

2012 Million Hero Publishing Generations Artfire Revealed!!

SO sorry for slacking off and not updating my blog on a regular basis, guys! Well, just to post a quick update of sorts--Millionhero, the uber-cool Japanese publishing house that has brought us countless TF: Generations styled books, is at it once again, this time by offering another exclusive figure to go with the new release of the latest Generations 2012 Vol. 2 book.

Yes, folks, the toy in question is none other than another toy and character repaint of G1 Inferno--in the form of a homage of the original Targetmaster Fire Truck  that had a limited run in the original Generation 1 'Manga'  - the one they aptly called Auto-fire or Artfire.  If anyone is unfamiliar with this Targetmaster character, it's probably also due to the fact that aside from being obscure, his toy was the last of the series released sometime in the late 80's. Hence the reason also that he commands ridiculously high prices-- read $3,000 to $4,000!!-- on the secondary market. Talk about crazy prices-eh?! Personally, I wouldn't want to fork out that insane amount of dosh for something as simple and straightforward as an white Inferno body-- with a simple Targetmaster -- but hey, more power to those who can and are willing too.

Anyway, going back to this exclusive release, It will come bundled with not one but two- Microns / Targetmaster buddies in the form of 'Nightstick' and 'Sparks'-- both a repaint of the Target masters which came with Henkei/Classics Cyclonus and the Powercore Combiner toy- of which I can't really remember top of my head at this point of time...

This retails-- minus the book and sold separately-- for around USD$ 140- plus shipping- and really- it's not a too bad a price and decent for being a limited run figure. Obviously this is for hard-core completists and those who are more privy or  only collect exclusive campaign or lucky- draw type toys. I've already secured mine, and the tentative release date for the book is sometime this month, but the toy will only hit us collectors at the end of the year?-- what?! sigh oh well...anyway... looking forward to getting it and adding this awesome homage Artfire to my collection!  Stay tuned, folks for more upcoming news / reveals on Artfire as the time passes!

WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: Tokyo toy Show Exclusive: Transformers United Takara TF United Set (-Limited-) Cybertron Prime & Megatron! Dark Beginnings! 「トランスフォーマー ユナイテッド DSオプティマスプライム サイバトロンモード&DSメガトロン サイバトロンモード」が東京おもちゃショー2011のタカラトミーブースにて数量限定で販売決定!

Hi there people! Just a quick update for all to share! Basically, in conjunction with the imminent release of the new Transformer Live Action Movie that is Dark of the Moon, Takaratomy along with E-hobby Japan has decide to commemorate this momentous event  by releasing the 'Darkside' edition of the War For Cybertron  incarnations of Prime and Megatron. The premise for this is to showcase the 'negative' and or mirror versions of the aforementioned Cybertron Leaders, decked out in two really distinct color pallets. Optimus looks sharp in his 'Nemisis' black and teal scheme with red chest windshield/ while Megatron's combination of flat black and purple gives the Decepticon leader an air of being rather a more shady and deviant figure.

Release details: Transformers United [Dark Side Optimus Prime VS Dark Side Megatron] Set

Remark: Tokyo Toy Show 2011 Exclusive

Estimate Retail Price (shipping included): RM200-RM228 / 5,000 Yen
Release Date: 20 June ( to be shipped after Tokyo Toy show 2011

This release was first reported on the web-blog of Malaysian toy seller Famitoys sometime as recent as the middle of April 2011, and is available from most online retail stores. Not estimated as to how many of these 2-pack sets will be distributed come the day of the Tokyo Toy Fair 2011, but as usual, these will no doubt be scalped on other online sites in the near future. E-hobby will be taking a limited number of pre-orders especially for their Japan-based customers. Paid a decent sum for this and cannot wait to get it and add these awesome renditions in my collection!

WING SABER TOYZ SNEAK PEEK: DARK OF THE MOON VOYAGER-CLASS DECEPTICON GENERAL =SHOCKWAVE! DESTRUCTIVE FORCE!

Hey there, peoples! Welcome to another blog post from yours truly WSX! I would like to kick off the month of April with another one of those pre-released Dark of the Moon Live Action Transformers movie toys which has yet to hit the mass retail market. As it is now pretty much confirmed and known for sometime now, the main villain from the third Transformers movie franchise by Micheal Bay- will be none other than the old Marvel UK comics/ Generation 1 stalwart- the one-eyed and commanding DECEPTICON  Military Operations Commander - Shockwave. Got him loose from a seller on Ebay, shipped last week and received this in the mail recently. Came packaged loose with bubble-wrap, but one hinge in his right sole to clip his legs in his Cybertronian tank mode went missing for some reason....methinks it was 'taken out' and smuggled from the factory..but it still transforms well, save for the small gap in tank mode. A slight peeve, but all in all happy and glad to finally receive him.

HE IS TO SERVE AND GAIN FOR HIMSELF!

''Throughout his incarnations, Shockwave is usually distinguished by a laser cannon in lieu of one of his hands and his distinctive face, which is featureless save a single robotic eye.[2]

As the Decepticons' military operations commander, Shockwave's power is second only to Megatron's Army, and even that is disputed. His actions are carried out with the cold, brutal clarity and perfection one would expect of a purely mechanical being — his way is not that of blood lust, like so many other Decepticons, but rather that of a scientist attempting to solve a problem. And that problem is: how can he use his abilities to most effectively eliminate the greatest number of enemies? Unfortunately for the Autobots, it is rare that Shockwave does not find an answer.

Decepticon
Sub-groupTriple Changers, Voyager
Alternate ModesAH-64 Apache/Gun emplacement/Cybertronian war tank
SeriesTransformers film series
English voice actorDaniel Riordan (Transformers The Game)

Unlike most early Transformers Shockwave was not modified into an Earthly form, and retains his Cybertron alternate mode — a 35-foot-long ray gun. He possesses the power of flight in both modes, and commands the totality of the electromagnetic spectrum allowing him to emit beams of energy in a wide variety of forms. His high energy output makes him particularly fuel inefficient, but radioactive fuel sources stored in the reactor in his chest can help Shockwave to overcome this problem. Although his logical brain center is usually an advantage, human adversaries often pose more of a difficulty to Shockwave, as more intuitive and emotional thought processes often confound him.
While the animated series established Shockwave as fanatically loyal to Megatron, Shockwave's original bio and most fiction since have described him as coldly and patiently looking for ways to overthrow Megatron, not for personal power (as Starscream would) but simply because it was logical for him to do so. Shockwave concluded that he should rule so that no emotion should prevent the DECEPTICONS from conquering the universe. This was retained in most comic books, where Shockwave became leader of the Decepticons.

Unusually for a 1985 (second year) toy, Shockwave was past in Transformers fiction from the first year, appearing in both the original cartoon pilot and 4-issue comic book miniseries.''

^ Text on Shockwave is credited and linked to Wikipedia.com

FINAL THOUGHTS:

A decently made homage for a sinister DECEPTICON character,  he is definitely one of the must buy releases from the Dark of the Moon toyline when it officially hits retail outlets worldwide sometime in the middle of May 2011. Love his giant cannon, more menacing and a whole lot bigger and powerful from hos Generation1 predecessor.  It came in the usual flat grey plastic used to make his thighs, arms and shoulders...so to make up for the dull look, cue Gundam weathering markers for instant remedy! Repainted the after-mentioned parts, and voila! - Shockwave has not looked more menacing and better in person! Very highly recommended! A- for Voyager class size (slightly on the small side) but A+ on homage, colour--it's purple! and simple yet effective transformation!

WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: DARK OF THE MOON LEADER CLASS SENTINEL PRIME! AINCIENT WARRIOR & SAVOUR!

Hey there folks! Welcome to yet another blog post and a special update from yours truly Adam aka WSX! Today I would proudly present to my fellow toy collectors and loyal followers out there the world over yet another 'coup' of sorts in my ever burgeouning toy collection.  As most of you are quite aware, the time has come to put the final curtian on the live action Trasnformers movies franchise made famous by uber-explosive- ahem- director and sometimes misunderstood individual Michael Bay-  I am personally hoping for the best movie made yet witha ll the promotional buzz and not to mention news on the movie itself.

LETS GO FOR IT!

Taking cue from the original and compelling series that is the Generation One set of comics from Marvel, the producers and script writers - chielfy a uber good guy by the name of Ehrin Kruger- sought to put right the dismay and sloppiness of the previous live action movie fare that is Revenge of the Fallen. What better way is more appropriate than going out with a huge bang for the third and final installment that is Transformers: Dark Of The Moon?! For instance the main protagonist for once does not really center on the beloved and best known Leader of the Autobots: Optimus Prime, but when the world goes well-literally- dark- and all hope is lost, the desolate and defeated turn to an ancient source- mysterious and mythical- to aid them in their time of need. Long thought destroyed eons ago, their saviour is discovered in stasis mode and brought back to life. That could only sound potentiall good for humandkind and aling autobot troops, but the Decepticons days are surely numbered!

I AM SENTINEL PRIME!

Sentinel Prime:  Autobot

Sub-group:  Primes, Leaders, Cyberverse Legion

Function: Commander

Rank: 10

Alternate Modes: Rosenbauer Panther fire truck

Series Transformers (film series)

Transformers: Generation : Sentinel Prime
Alternate Modes: Cybertronian Truck

Dark of the Moon Leader Class Sentinel Prime (not yet released)

Series Transformers: Marvel Comics

"Marvel ComicsSentinel Prime originates from the original Marvel Comics Transformers series. Sentinel is the immediate predecessor of Optimus Prime, and was killed in battle on Cybertron. He is glimpsed in issue #150 of the UK comic, passing the Autobot Matrix of Leadership on to Optimus Prime. It was not made clear in this continuity who or what caused his death. His appearance resembles Rodimus Prime.

His name is taken from issue U.S. #65 (UK #290) in which all the past Matrix holders are listed and he precedes Optimus Prime."

This bid win was a culmunation of sheer luck as the figure will not see the light of day in mass retail untill the official release date for all Dark of The Moon toys sometime in early May 2011.  Not one for shirking at the chance of obtaining something way ahead of regualr schedule, the price for the figure and shipping was a fair reflection and justifaction for the amout forked out. Robot mode wise, he is nearly identical to his on-screen counterpart. Sharp shoulder pads and his deep red/ marroon colour helps him look dignified and very regal-like. I love his face sculpt as most of the movie designs give  real character and individuality. Giant sword and shield completes the  ensamble. Plus, the fact that his alternate mde is a really uber cool futuristic looking fire truck helps the purchase to look a little more pleasing to my wallet and mind! LOL. A+ Get him now!

His Mech Tech weaponry consists of a lance and a shield that transforms into a bladed blaster. The figure also features light and sound effects; some of which are triggered when his Mech Tech weapon or those from other figures are placed on the ports on the roof in vehicle mode. WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: TRANSFORMERS MASTERPIECE (MP1L) CONVOY FINAL EDITION [- トランスフォーマー マスターピース MP-1L コンボイ最終生産 !!]

Hey folks! Just a quick update since this is the New Year! Happy Rabbit Year 2011.  Finally caved in and pre-ordered what has been touted as the final hoorah of this truly landmark Masterpiece toy which has been released unprecedented times ever since its inception way back in 2004. It was a solid introduction in the whole Masterpiece genre, one which has spawned countless of  ''Editions'' of the beloved Transformers Leader and uber good guy: Convoy aka Optimus Prime.

This mould seems to be going so strong that even Takaratomy themselves cant resist a final dig at re-releasing this so-called 'Final Edition' to us unsuspecting collectors. I did own the original version, never with the uber-trailer, but it was sold off sometime ago to fund my G1Vintage toys addiction...So what does one get with this current and latest release?! Apparently just a shinier paint job and extra voice-activated display stand with a gleaming Autobot insignia just like the Hasbro 20th DVD Edition..Kinda underwhelming to be honest, but there are some shots which show that there are no significant additions to the whole set-- trailer included or not. Personally it's the mould itself which make it worth the import price alone. Bought it off from Etoysjapan, payment is 1/5 fraction of the total cost of just under USD100.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I'm getting this release as a direct replacement for the one which I sold off. This is for completists only, and hopefully more details would be revealed in the coming months before it's release sometime in March 2011. A trailer would be sweet, but at the retail price of 10,000 Yen, its a safe bet to assume that we just receive the bare-bones minimum of the hulking and super weighty (2kgs!) Autobot leader. B+
