WING SABER TOYZ FIRST POST OF 2012! GUNDAM AGE [1]- 1/144 SCALE - NORMAL TYPE- from 機動戦士ガンダムAGE

Welcome to the first post for 2012!  Been slacking off in terms of posting and updating the blog,so sincere apologies to my readers and those following closely!  I trust that you guys had a great New Year celebration?! Well have a small 'resolution' of sorts for the New Year,  and thought that wanted to get into the groove of watching another Gundam series besides the slower paced/ darker melodramatic release that is Gundam Unicorn . Saw this uniquely less 'saturated' version call Gundam AGE, and lets face it , while it may not be as super complex as some of the past Gundam series: I'm looking at you S.E.E.D!, it certainly takes a fresh look and spin to the franchise with the animation style leaning towards a more 'youthful' core of characters. Sure, GUNPLA Builders had a set of kids as a major plot line too, but something about the art style for AGE is more 'sophisticated'

Intro to the AGE series:

''Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (機動戦士ガンダムAGE Kidō Senshi Gandamu Eiji?) is a 2011 Japanese science fiction anime television series and the twelfth incarnation of Sunrise's long-running Gundam franchise. The series is first announced in the July issue of Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic, and has gaming company Level-5's President Akihiro Hino in charge of the story.[1] The series was officially unveiled by Bandai on June 13, 2011, during a special event at the 2011 Tokyo Toy Show. Gundam AGE premiered on the MBS and TBS broadcasting stations in Japan on October 9, 2011.[2] The series is set in a futuristic Earth and is centered on the war that plagued the earth for centuries. Only a Family linage can protect everyone by using the legendary mobile suit known as "Gundam".
The staff behind Gundam AGE is also the same staff members who created the previous series Mobile Suit Gundam 00 excluding Seiji Mizushima. Susumu Yamaguchi, the director of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Sgt Frog is in charge of the direction of the series. Michinori Chiba and Takuzō Nagano were both in charge of the character designs of the series while Kanetake Ebikawa, Junya Ishigaki, and Kenji Teraoka are all contributing to the mechanical designs.[4]''

Whoa, never realized that the makers of AGE too made Keroro Gunso!  Mecha Style/ design for the main AGE [1] Gundam unit is interesting, in that it has subtle hints of the RX-78 Gundam's roundish shape. A great nod and homage to the original Gundam model. very cool I must say!

Decided that I am going to get the GUNDAM HG 1/144 > Gundam Age [1] - Gundam AGE-1 Normal  version to add to my collection.  Looking to get this if you're in Malaysia, then go and check out this uber awesome source website, low prices great deals on the latest kits. http://www.gundam.my/detail.php?productid=1138

TRANSFORMERS PRIME: DELUXE CLIFFJUMPER!

From the First Edition wave of the latest Transformers: Prime CGI series, comes the release of the Deluxe edition of the Autobot muscle-car and all round uber-buddy-co partner : CliffJumper.

Major Plot Spoiler to those who have not see the animated series

  • Cliffjumper (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) - Transforms into a red Dodge Challenger decorated with bull horns on the hood. He is killed by Starscream in the first episode upon his capture. His body was used in testing Dark Energon in the second episode where it was sliced in half by Megatron. His zombified appearance was found barely alive by Arcee before it was caught in the explosion of one of the Decepticons' hideouts in the same episode. Cliffjumper will only appear in flashbacks from now on according to an interview about the upcoming episodes.[7] Since Cliffjumper will now only appear in flashbacks, Dwayne Johnson might return to voice Cliffjumper in the flashbacks.[8] Cliffjumper has currently appeared in only one flashback, with Johnson not voicing him.

Design wise the toy is a pretty faithful representation of the animation model, and the transformation from muscle car mode to robot mode is not overly complex. Dont know if it;s just mine, but for me however,  the panels somewhat do not line up when transforming him back to his vehicular mode. Overall a decent toy, and he is pretty much in scale with the Voyager Prime and Bulkhead toys which will be released sometime next year.  Detailing wise, not much paint applications, on his car, and a flat red plastic is used, save for the top of the car which becomes his chest piece, which is done is a a darker shade of red. Personally, I would have much preferred the toy to be done evenly  in the darker tone. As for weapons, nothing much going on except that he's got Gatling-gun fists which flip out from his wrists.

Transformers Wikia has a also linked neat picture of concept art featuring Cliffjumper, and looks somewhat bulkier and built like a wrestler- much like the voice actor (well, we can call it guest voice actor!) which was none other than Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

Recommended, only if you are interested in getting and completing your Transformers Prime collection.

BIO
Cliffjumper (Cliff to his chums) isn't your run-of-the-mill Autobot freedom fighter. Armed with six-cylinder ion cannons, a quantum-sensitive multiphase targeting system that would make Megatron jealous, and of course, the old-school technique of pummelingDecepticons with his fists, Cliffjumper prefers to liven up the day with firefights while retrieving enemy intelligence. He more than lives up to his name: He'll fearlessly leap long before he bothers looking!

WING SABER TOYZ SPECIAL: Tokusatsu (Sci-Fi) Revoltech No.024 Iron Man (アイアンマン) Mk.VI [Kaiyodo]

The name's Stark, Tony Stark..but you can call me....IRON MAN!

Hello guys and girls from the world over! This is your resident nut job  passionate toy collector WSX here once again to present a humble purchase which has cought my attention this past couple of months. The character in question which need no introduction to those who are very familliar with the Marvel Comics brand of Superheros is going to drool over Revoltech No.024 Iron Man  (アイアンマン) Mk.VI!  It's been in the works since last year, and yours truly -although finding out late of it's release, just couldnt let this one slip through my fingers! I just had to obtain it.no matter the cost!

This beauty follows in the footsteps of the previously random- yes I know Kaiyodo does not seem to follow a particular formula/ strategy when they plan on releasing the next (Tokusatsu) or superhero name in their much impressive line of super-poseable action figures that is Revoltech, but this release is for those who, naturally again- wont want to shell out huge amounts of $$ for the bigger Hot Toys 12 -16 inch Movie Accurate Iron Man figures. I digress...but the bottom line is that the pain job on this action figure height Iron Man Mk.VI looks gorgeous- and apprently this has a limited first run of production. It's sold out EVERYWHERE and the only way to get your hands on this model is by going to online to Ebay..but as usual, when sought after hot items are concerned, be prepared to pay a premium price. No quarters given!

Final Say:

This is yet another stellar release from the very talented folks at Kaiyado. I paid a slightly more premium price for him, but the extras that come packed with this version of Iron Man Mk. VI sure is worth the price alone. For me personally, the addition of the 'Repulsor' Ray beams makes the figure look complete and alive, jsut like his on-screen and comic counterpart. Id say that the only minor gripe is that Kaiyado did not include a 'tony Stark' head ala Kyaido Revlotech Batma's Brece Wayne alternate head as an added measure of realism. Nevertheless, positive sales and glowing initial reviews have made this Iron Man MK VI a erally, really desirable toy! Bring on WAR MACHINE! A+
