Hey there folks! Welcome once again to the humble abode of yours truly Adam aka WSX! 

I sincerely and really do apologize for letting my blog post count dwindle in the past few weeks, and thus, today Id like to make up for the slack in not posting by previewing an outstanding black repaint which would be released sometime next year in 2011, which I am pretty sure, price wise it would be elevated to astronomical proportions: read Shattered Glass and TF classics Henkei Wildrider from a couple of years back. We certainly wouldn't want that fiasco  to happen again, now would we?!

The awesome reveal that this beautiful Hyper Hobby repaint has seen the light of day on most of the major Transformers related websites is undoubtedly, a watershed moment for those who have been pining for physical evidence ever since it was announced sometime in the middle of the year. Knowing the potential madness for all black repaints to become very sought after items after a period of time, I was mindful that after missing out on some previously released 'token' Japanese exclusives, I would not have to endure another episode of missing out on this type of item ever again! He has once again delivered when things matters the most in terms of scouring all over the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan for those really hard to find and limited quantity toys. You wont be disappointed, and IMHO, the overall feel of colours used, especially the light teal/purple and black/silver and gold highlights just screams classic 'evil' clone repaint. FINAL THOUGHTS! 

The concept for repaints all things black isn't exactly all that new, but there are few toy lines which do this so well, apart from well heck, scratch that-- the bottom line is that one might be forgiven to shun this particular toy, especially if one is not a fan of the Animated Line/ toy designs. However, you have been warned! Pass this at your own peril and not to mention an aching heart and wallet! His kick-ass factor is that not only is this a Magazine Exclusive, his back-story and weapon of choice (powered up, by what I presume to be 'Dark' Energon)-- red tinted windows and the stoic colours chosen represent a really excellent repaint of the already awesome good guy Rodimus deluxe figure! It's release is more, much more than meets the eye!! Buy it if you can still get the pre-orders form online stores! A++

Hi there boys and girls! Welcome, welcome to yet another random post and blog of the passionate Transformer and toy collector Adam aka WingSaberX!  Today we are looking at specifically, the brilliant and intuitive Transformers Animated timeline, where the wise creator of the animation models- (the uber talented Mr.Derrick J. Wyatt ) -- has made this incarnation of the Hot Rodimus Character into a real team-player and  a tough as nails type of leader. He's got a bow and Energon arrows for a weapon! Talk about channeling  a 'Robin-Hood' archetype! Far from the indecisive, whining  and inexperienced portrayal in the original Transformers series.  Just stopped off one of my favorite haunts for scouring a great buy- Amcorp Mall flea market. Had no particular reason to go there other than to try and find another decently priced buy (Am winding up my purchases of Vintage Japanese Transformers for the time being till the year is up! and just focusing on neat little releases that is much more easier on the wallet! LOL!  ) and get one of the most eagerly anticipated Animated releases to grace the market.

Rodimus Minor is a character who appeared in season 3 of the Transformers Animated series. He is an homage to the Generation 1 version of the characterHot Rod.^[2] He wields an energon bow-and-arrow weapon of his own design.^[3] On March 31, 2009, Derrick J. Wyatt, lead Transformers Animated Character Designer posted an image of Rodimus' vehicle mode, which is described as a futuristic muscle car that is mostly based on a 2008 Dodge Challenger with some elements of a 1969 Ferrari Daytona. This was revealed at the 2009 BotCon where Hasbro released an action figure of Rodimus Minor. It showed that the 2008 Dodge Challenger parts of Rodimus' vehicle mode were mostly based on the back, top, and sides of the vehicle, while the 1969 Ferrari Daytona parts were found in the front of the vehicle, most notably, the headlights.

Actor Judd Nelson, who originally voiced Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime in The Transformers: The Movie reprised his role as this character.

Rodimus Minor leads an Autobot crew consisting of Red Alert, Ironhide, Hot Shot and Brawn.

TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!

Transformation of this toy is pretty simplistic, nothing too complex. Just flip out both doors to reveal his arms, and rotate and swivel upwards and click into place, releasing his fists. Next,  release the foot peg and divide the legs from his underside- Next, just lift his hood up to reveal his head, in addition to flipping his front engine to show his Autobot insignia. Clip the back car top and flip up his spoiler, tabbing it firmly into place. Bring his legs downwards and rotate his hips to the front, and then Second last step, then you must clip in the side of the lower legs into each pegs to straighten and extend a pair of (rather spindly looking) legs! finally, his side exhaust pipes that at are on his thighs are lifted upwards and clipped into place to finish the Rodimus robot mode. Rodimus's biography was printed in issue #24 of the Transformers Collectors Club magazine. He is described as a young prodigy, the "chosen one", who is

 expected to become the next Magnus in record time.

Animated series

Rodimus was seen in the season 3 "Transwarped" special, leading his team in defending a Space Bridge from Strika's "Team Chaar". His team was overwhelmed, and Rodimus is infected with Cosmic Rust, courtesy of Oil Slick, putting him out of commission. According to Derrick J. Wyatt, Rodimus is back on Cybertron de-rusting. He can later be seen on Cybertron cheering for Optimus Prime and his crew for defeating the Decepticons in "Engame, Part II".

Toys

Animated Rodimus Minor was released in the US as a Toys "R" Us store exclusive long after the series went off the air in 2010.^[4] The figure comes with an Energon bow and arrow and the figure's vehicle mode engine block can be flipped to show the Autobot insignia.^[5] In Japan he was released in metallic finish, and also in a clean plastic version ala the Animated 'Sons of Cybertron' two-pack release with the Deluxe mould of Cybertron Optimus Prime.

FINAL SAY:


The packaging for all Japanese toy releases is always showcases a neat design and alot of cool graphics. I like the way these 'toys' -- so called -- are presented at the back of the packaging showing a realism of an action / battle poses.  The Takaratomy repaint in his signature and shiny maroon colors are sharp and very interesting, but not really surprising since the recent trend of toys released have always had a touch of panache and collectability on them. Get this toys for your TF: Animated collection, only because of his G1 homage in his  both his robot and car mode. 
Oh, and shiny paint rocks! A+

the details for this massively anticipated toy can be summed up below: Text linked sourced and credited to my fave site ever for all things Transformers: TFW2005!  

What a list of kick ass features, not to mention the payment and price for the initial batches of MP-09 Rodimus Convoy/ Prime seems justifiable given the complexity and real bulk of the toy. It transforms and morphs seamlessly from Hot Rod form -- a scrawny bot -- into the hulking and imposing Leader / Commander that is Rodimus Prime!  Id say that the folks at Takaratomy really did out-do

 themselves this time round!! Although in my earlier preview, I have mentioned previously that the Rodimus character has no affinity to my personal liking, however the mere coolness factor and like so many have mentioned before-- it's the latest greatest Masterpiece toy to be released for a long while, really makes it worth the trouble  getting one just ot add in your collection! A++

"Following on from the new images of Masterpiece MP-9 Rodimus Convoy the other day, we have even more new images of Masterpiece Rodimus to share with you. First of all there are some nice higher-resolution versions of the pics from earlier this week, along with some more official images showing off Rodimus' poseability and the rear of his vehicle mode.These have been popping up on retailers and hobby sites all over the net, including on AmiAmi and on Ngee Khiong.

But that's not all. A big montage of images has been posted over on Otacute, showcasing the many features and accessories of Takara-Tomy's next Masterpiece. The features showcased include:

- Ability to be posed opening the Matrix, Transformers the Movie style.

WS TOYZ ANTICIPATED UPCOMING RELEASE:- MASTERPIECE 2010 EDITION:- MP-09 CYBERTRON COMMANDER HOT RODIMUS AKA RODIMUS CONVOY!

Hey there my fellow blog followers from the world over! It's another one of those 

'upcoming' and anticipated toy  release posts for today. Looking at the recent coverage of all the latest Masterpiece Transformers news release over the past week, I must say that good ol' Adam here needs another writing fix, even it's just merely a 'filler' post. Call it lazy blogging or whatever, but the fact that so many of the fandom has been having mixed feelings -- more often negatively looking at the minor details of just how the resin prototype of the latest addition to the highly collectible MP-09 Hot Rodimus/ Rodimus Prime Masterpiece toy, really gets my blood somewhat boiling out of minor frustration!! LOL. 

Going back to the recent picture and news, credited to tfw2005 and HKTF, the design and little cult' nuances to the 1986 Animated movie -- such as the 'high vision binocular / visor' briefly deployed in the now iconic and revered 1986 Movie, shows that the designers are mindful of his role in  Transformers lore, however disagreeable in the eyes of the fandom. IMHO, they have made a solid and intricate transformation scheme, very much like the animated model of the Rodimus Prime transformation scheme which utilizes his 'Winnebago' trailer / command base. Kudos to them for that. Throw in a really kickass and realistically sculpted face , it  adds to the overall coolness factor! Awesome!

AN UNLIKED CHARACTER?

Lets face it, the bottom line is that the Rodimus Prime character was never really written in a positive light especially when it came to the American Seasons 3 and 4 of the cartoon series. Hot rod wasn't much of an inspirational Prime-type either. Indecisive and unstable decisions under his stewardship of the Autobots are  some of the major reasons that he is somewhat not really a personal cult favorite for some fans. There was more of his misadventures in the later Japanese Headmasters continuity. Personally, I am more into the toy design and overall quality and collector's value that into the overall Character of the toy when it comes to those so-called 'flawed' and often criticized characters. Just be glad that we are spoilt for choice, and fellow transfans should rejoice that a new Masterpiece toy is upon us!

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!!

There is a debate and yet to be confirmed conclusion as to the exact height of this stunning

 and latest design. Judging from the prototype resin above, the intricate transformation might be even more challenging that that of Masterpiece Grimlocks'. The neat touch is that the homage paid to the original Generation One toy is pretty much still in tact, and more so now that toy engineering has

 officially reached the levels of  mind-boggling complexity. Also, while not confirmed, the amount of die-cast will play a pivotal role in justifying the really high price tag of an estimated USD $200-- That's on par with the Mp04 re-release of Convoy/ Optimus, but with the added bulk and trailer attached. Hmm, we shall see....

While intriguing to some fans, I would like to adopt a wait and see approach on the path this release is going to take-- opinions and message-boards dedicated to very solid and honest debates on just how justifiable the final product is, must be taken into consideration all the time by the discerning fan. Budget and earmarked for the future release date of Jan 2011, but most likely bought at a later date-- possibly Feb/March if funds permit me. AS I am not really a fan of the Rodimus Prime character, there might be other releases during that period which will be more important to get.
