New Teaser Pic of TF; Prime Voyager Japan-only Unicron mould! OOOhhh..Pointy!

Hi folks, just quick update on an exciting pic posted by none other thann Mr. 'Takaratomy' himself, Yuki-san on his Twitter page. Gaia Unicron in all his evil glory. Glad I have this monstrous destroyer of worlds paid for and pre-ordered. Releasing sometime next month! Cannot wait!
  • Gaia Unicron (2012)

  • ID number: AM-19
Gaia Unicron is an all new mold which transforms from Unicron's robot mode into Unicron's face inside a volcano. You read that right. He also transforms into a "capture" mode for either Voyager Optimus Prime or Megatron. His Micron partner, Bogu, transforms from what appears to be a robot mole into a pointy claw for him to wield. He features a panel which has one of each of the 3 Arms Micron Power crystals, not unlike Hades' tail.

EHOBBY 2013 NEW YEAR SPECIAL! SHATTERED GLASS SOUNDWAVE VS. SHATTERED GLASS BLASTER!

HI folks! So sorry and apologise for the tardiness. It's already September 2012 and the time has come to preview what to me is somewhat exciting collecting news in terms of 'Exclusive' releases which caught my attention. Following the TFW2005, report that E-hobby Japan's partnership with Transformers Collector's Club  (TFCC) from the States, it has allowed their Japanese counterparts to come up with unique 'Ehobby' takes on popular Transformers characters, starting with 'Shattered Glass' repaints of  Blaster and Soundwave.

''E-Hobby has sent out their newest letter and has also updated their website with a new advertisement for their upcoming Shattered Glass toy exclusive. The exclusive, in partnership with the Transformers Collectors' Club, will be a Shattered Glass Soundwave vs. Blaster set. From the image shared, it looks like four cassettes will be included; Shattered Glass Slugfest, Ratbat, Rewind/Eject and Ramhorn. Note that the exclusive will use the Slugfest cassette mold in this set instead of the previously thought, and much rarer, Dial cassette. ''

Personally, although I have already collected multiple moulds of these two characters, however this might be added as one of my very few and carefully planned purchases as I have decided that from now on, my collecting habit will only encompass the new Masterpieces, Transformers Prime Arms Micron series and the occasional 'Exclusives' churned out by E-hobby or TFCC themselves. The deco's, albeit being heavily Photoshopped, are pretty damn neat, and the chromed gun/ shoulder cannon on Shattered Glass Soundwave adds some balance to the white body of the toy. As for SG Blaster, the black and teal repainted figure looks great concept wise, and you know your's truly cannot get enough of exclusive repaints, no?! Woth a price tag of JPY ¥13,000 or a little over USD$130, this set seems pretty steep for a bunch of repaints. since the pre-orders are already up, I can wait till end of the month to get this together with Big Bad Toys Store (BBTS) inspired stab at making / churning out 'special edition' toys in the form of Dark Energon Transformers Prime releases.  WEll, more collecting for me then! Cannot wait!

EDIT: More info and pics on the E-Hobby set: here!  and here!

TRANSFORMERS PRIME: GAIA UNICRON, ARMS MASTER PRIME AND MASTERPIECES!

Hi folks, just an interesting update for those who were thinking of grabbing Gaia Unicron from TF: Prime. Here are some pics courtersy of TFW2005 member Gaokaiser taken from a Japanese Hobby message board. I have put in my pre-orders and based on the picture, Gaia Unicron is one mean design which although not 'planet sized' he would go pretty well with all the TF: Prime Cyberverse mini-figs! More details in the link and to get your pre-orders, please visit etoysjapan and Robotkingdom for all your Transformers collection needs!

WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: TRANSFORMERS MASTERPIECE (MP1L) CONVOY FINAL EDITION [- トランスフォーマー マスターピース MP-1L コンボイ最終生産 !!]

Hey folks! Just a quick update since this is the New Year! Happy Rabbit Year 2011.  Finally caved in and pre-ordered what has been touted as the final hoorah of this truly landmark Masterpiece toy which has been released unprecedented times ever since its inception way back in 2004. It was a solid introduction in the whole Masterpiece genre, one which has spawned countless of  ''Editions'' of the beloved Transformers Leader and uber good guy: Convoy aka Optimus Prime.

This mould seems to be going so strong that even Takaratomy themselves cant resist a final dig at re-releasing this so-called 'Final Edition' to us unsuspecting collectors. I did own the original version, never with the uber-trailer, but it was sold off sometime ago to fund my G1Vintage toys addiction...So what does one get with this current and latest release?! Apparently just a shinier paint job and extra voice-activated display stand with a gleaming Autobot insignia just like the Hasbro 20th DVD Edition..Kinda underwhelming to be honest, but there are some shots which show that there are no significant additions to the whole set-- trailer included or not. Personally it's the mould itself which make it worth the import price alone. Bought it off from Etoysjapan, payment is 1/5 fraction of the total cost of just under USD100.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I'm getting this release as a direct replacement for the one which I sold off. This is for completists only, and hopefully more details would be revealed in the coming months before it's release sometime in March 2011. A trailer would be sweet, but at the retail price of 10,000 Yen, its a safe bet to assume that we just receive the bare-bones minimum of the hulking and super weighty (2kgs!) Autobot leader. B+

WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: COMPOSITE Ver.Ka Super Robot Wars Exbein! SLEEK CUSTOMER!

Hello people to another random blogpost from yours truly, WSX. Really do apologise for my slacking off and not diligently posting on my blog for the past couple of weeks. Been busy with life, so to speak! This post is a pretty short one, as I do not know much about the mecha in question. All I do know is that the design is a shining example of the sleek and technically beautiful stream-lined version of Mecha this side of Japan-- where else but the mecca of Giant humanoid robots and mechanical beings?! This, ladies and gents is the stunning Super Robot Wars orginal creation : Exbein! The PTX-EX Exbein is a fictional robot in the Super Robot Wars series. It has appeared only in the 2010 anime Super Robot Wars Original Generation: The Inspector., in which it replaces the RTX-011L Huckebein MkIII from the games.

IS IT A GUNDAM?!

At first glance, one would be forgiven to mistaken this particular sleek looking mecha for a Gundam. The mystery is that this is as close as one can get when desiging or conceptulising a
dream' design that closly resembles an all encompasing, all-powerful Gundam mech. The exlanation of this mech is linked and credited to superrobotwars.wikia.com  "The Exbein is part of the Huckebein series of Real Robots, and as such bears a strong resemblance to a Gundam. However unlike the Huckebeins, it lacks the distinctive gold "V-Fin" antenna, and a visor covers the upper part of its face. Its head is otherwise identical to that of the Huckebein MkIII. The Composite ver.Ka figure and lineart of the Exbein reveal that it has a flight pack as well as additional armament not yet seen in the series, most of which is carried over from the Huckebein MkII and MkIII "

PRE-ORDERED ..(AGAIN)

AMIAMI is the place once again to get your mecha and toys fix. It comes with a chock-full of weapons and accessories. It looks shar with its blue and white frame. It has a huge Gundam influence. check out the awesome fire-power that this Mech has. All pics credited and linked to Amiami Japan!

WING SABER TOYZ UPCOMING RELEASE: BANDAI SOUL OF CHOGOKIN GX-59 = FUTURE ROBOT DALTANIUS! = (未来ロボ ダルタニアス!) = RAW POWER!

Hey there folks! It's the month of December-- the year is at an end, and the first post by yours truly WSX is a rather short one. Been keeping up with some busy and other entertaining ativities that life throws at us, and thus I do sincerely apologise for the lack of update to my blog over the past few weeks. Mainly because I was very pre-occupied with volunteering efforts at the recently concluded Aquarium Fair 2010, which was held concurrently over the course for four days at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. Tiring but an all round stellar experience, hanging out with fellow like minded individuals who share the passion and commitment for the tropical fish rearing hobby. LOL. Enough about that, then...dont want to breo you gys with droll details! Onward to exploring the other passion which I have unfairly 'neglected' over the couple of weeks-- what else is there but to come back and talk about collecting Mecha and cool Japanese toys?!

DALTANIUS?

Not being the stable of the Go-Nagai Anime Super-Mecha genere, Daltanius for me is a rather obscure televised event in that there were no distinct memories of ever watching the show as a child. Not that it mattered, as most Super-Mecha shows of that period had meant something deep and wonderful for eahc and every child growing up in the 'Golden Age' of Japanese giant robot cartoons. The uber-awesome team of toy engineers at Bandai Japan has managed once again to turn an obscure mecha into a fine piece of art.

Future Robo Daltanious (未来ロボ ダルタニアス, Mirai Robo Darutaniasu?) was an anime series that aired from 1979 to 1980. There were 47 episodes. There are a lot of alternate spellings for the name, which includes "Dartanius", "D'Artagnas", "Daltanias" and "Dartanias". But the correct spelling should be "Daltanious" which was commonly used on the Japanese merchandise and packaging for the toys.[1] The show is one of the mecha shows which was and still remains very popular amongst Asian countries.

It is the year 1995. Earth has been conquered by an alien army from the star cluster known as the Akron. The cities of Earth have been destroyed, and the remaining survivors live in harsh shanty towns and villages. Kento, a war orphan, hides within a cave along with his companions in order to escape some bandits. In the cave, they find the secret base of Doctor Earl, who was an inhabitant of the planet Helios, a planet conquered by the Akron. Doctor Earl then fled to Earth, bringing with him the greatest achievement in Helian technology: the super robot Daltanius, whose power is increased when combined with the intelligent lion robot, Beralios. Doctor Earl entrusts the fight for Earth to Kento, who happens to be a descendant from the long disappeared Helian royal line."

FINAL THOUGHTS:

It remains to be seen if the lure of obtaining a rather rare collection piece that is the chogokin series would appeal to a casual non-fan of the genere of Bandai toys proves too strong to resist. Just to remind all you hardcore collectors out there, that there is the rather draining prospect of newer and much more anticipated Transformers releases slated for the coming 2011 year, that owinng those newer Takaratomy/ Hasbro releases would mean that the priority would surely be unmistakable. To all Chogokin fans, this ones over to you guys! Looks just as awesome as the Daltanius Mecha can come!

Exia utilizing the Trans-Am System
"The Trans-Am System is a system that temporarily removes the 'limiter' on the true GN Drives. Under normal operation, the limiter reduces the output of the GN Drives while the drives themselves store up any excess GN Particles created inside GN Condensers. With the limiter deactivated, the GN Drives can then operate at their full power by releasing all of their stored particles instantaneously. These stored particles saturate the frame of the mobile suit to give it a reddish hue, and the abilities of the unit are increased threefold while the system is active. However, this boost in performance is only temporary as once all the released energy and particles dissipate, the GN Drives must replace the spent energy and the unit will perform at a reduced capacity until the energy is replaced.
The use of the Trans-Am system is not limited to mobile suits. Celestial Being's assault carrier Ptolemaios II can engage into Trans-Am mode when at least one Gundam GN Drive is attached to the ship's system. As displayed on episode 9 of season 2, the combined Trans-Am output of Cherudim, Arios and Seravee enables the Ptolemaios II to execute an atmospheric launch from sea level. On episode 23 of season 2, the ship itself does have a Trans-Am system, utilizing the pre-stored particles in its particle storage tanks; it can be used only for a very brief period of time.
It has been recently shown that a Trans-Am-like mode is possible with fake GN Drives too, but has a shorter time limit than the real ones, since the fake drives have limited energy. Unlike true GN drives, which simply operate at a reduced capacity after Trans-Am has ended, Trans-Am derived from false GN Drives risk rendering the mobile suit inoperable due to lack of particles.
According to Ian Vashti, Innovation is caused by the GN Particle's special state in Trans-Am(Trans-Am Raiser and Trans-Am Burst System specifically). He theorized that it may be possible that this special state of GN Particles can even be felt regardless of range, and that more possible genuine Innovators has awakened as a result of Trans-Am Burst that Setsuna used during the battle with the Innovators. In addition, he is also worried that the Earth Sphere Federation now possessing the Trans-Am System technology will notice its relation to Innovation and try to use it for military purposes.[3]"

FINAL THOUGHTS:-

This was first released sometime early (Jan/Feb 2010) of this year, and it will be the second run for this exclusive Tamashii release by the kick-ass folks at Bandai Japan. Can't say honestly that I am into the whole Gundam 00 series at all, but this appears to be the ''final form''  for the Gundam Exia. Seriously looks pretty in fuchsia and the clear plastic is pretty prominently shown on this awesome and sleek mecha design!  As of now, I'm seriously contemplating to get this excellent model and display it along with my newly acquired taste for all things 'Robot Spirits'!  More Pictures can be linked and seen on this awesome Japanese blog! No pics will be used directly from here to respect and not rip-off the original owner / poster for this clear plastic jem of a beautiful toy! Get this if you are a fan of the Tamashii line of toys!  A+
