Hi there, fellow readers from around the world! Its fast approaching the middle of March 2010 already! Wow, talk about time passing by without waiting for us. It just means that we need to live life a little more vividly as we are more and more biologically maturing and aging ..LOL! Dont worry, folks, am not to go too much into being overly philosophical-- it just means yours truly will be posting yet another random blog post, dedicated to all my regular followers and fans--
This time, under the spotlight is another feral beast, following in the footsteps of my previously mentioned spotlight on Galaxy Force Black Wolf Fang and Brave series Super Build Tiger blog posts. The toy which I am going to write about is none other than the awesome "Shining" version of the Heroic Cybertron/ Maximal Commander from the Beast Wars II Japan continuity era:
C-16 Lio Convoy (Flash Version!)
As stated by numerous sources, Flash Lio Convoy is basically the "final attack form" of the Maximal Commander which only appeared in the final episode of the Beast Wars II/ "The Second"-- in the cliffhanger : LioConvoy in Imminent Danger!
This is a Beast War Movie Commemorative Exclusive which was released mid-to-late December 1998, and retailed in the region of about ¥2,980, - and this exclusive is limited to roughly 5000 pieces. Damn those Japanese collectors and their cheap and affordable toys!! LOL! I think, if not mistaken, the cartoon wasn't that well received in its native homeland, hence the apparent ease of availability and left-over amount of this Flash Lio Convoy "special", which to this day, can still be obtained in the open market for a neat sum ranging anywhere from a minimum of RM 280 to RM 350. Eh, considering the notion of it being a so-called "exclusive", id say that the price is pretty reasonable-- if you are a Beast Wars fan.

Basically your average original colour scheme Lio Convoy, but with more gold/silver and translucent "pearl" glitter plastic added for maximum "shining" effect! LOL! The blue colured eyes really gives the figure more vibrancy-- distracting it away from its monotonous palette combination. Not really a fan, and most certainly prefer the original colour scheme. B+
= BEAST MODE =
IMHO, this works far better, as the added details on its legs make the Lion Beast mode a certain air of regal beauty. It's golden mane really completes the whole look, and the pearl-tinged plastic is genius. There is also alot of play function in this mode, chiefly -- (just FYI) -- his lion mane can be opened and split upwards to reveal a "spinning mane attack" by pressing the button located on top. The same button can also be used to activate his "roar" stance when pressed. Another cool function is the ability to extend his Lion Claws fully from under his front paws. This adds a extra level of play value and dimension to an already neat toy. A+
FINAL THOUGHTS:
ONE OF THE MOST INTRIGUING BEAST WARS ERA TOYS. FOR FANS AND NON FANS ALIKE. AS AN EXCLUSIVE, ITS PRETTY NEAT, IF ONLY FOR THE SAVING GRACE WHICH IS ITS COOL LION BEAST MODE. GET THIS IN THE MARKET IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY!
