Welcome to the first post for 2012! Been slacking off in terms of posting and updating the blog,so sincere apologies to my readers and those following closely! I trust that you guys had a great New Year celebration?! Well have a small 'resolution' of sorts for the New Year, and thought that wanted to get into the groove of watching another Gundam series besides the slower paced/ darker melodramatic release that is Gundam Unicorn . Saw this uniquely less 'saturated' version call Gundam AGE, and lets face it , while it may not be as super complex as some of the past Gundam series: I'm looking at you S.E.E.D!, it certainly takes a fresh look and spin to the franchise with the animation style leaning towards a more 'youthful' core of characters. Sure, GUNPLA Builders had a set of kids as a major plot line too, but something about the art style for AGE is more 'sophisticated'
Intro to the AGE series:
''Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (機動戦士ガンダムAGE Kidō Senshi Gandamu Eiji) is a 2011 Japanese science fiction anime television series and the twelfth incarnation of Sunrise's long-running Gundam franchise. The series is first announced in the July issue of Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic, and has gaming company Level-5's President Akihiro Hino in charge of the story.[1] The series was officially unveiled by Bandai on June 13, 2011, during a special event at the 2011 Tokyo Toy Show. Gundam AGE premiered on the MBS and TBS broadcasting stations in Japan on October 9, 2011.[2] The series is set in a futuristic Earth and is centered on the war that plagued the earth for centuries. Only a Family linage can protect everyone by using the legendary mobile suit known as "Gundam".
The staff behind Gundam AGE is also the same staff members who created the previous series Mobile Suit Gundam 00 excluding Seiji Mizushima. Susumu Yamaguchi, the director of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Sgt Frog is in charge of the direction of the series. Michinori Chiba and Takuzō Nagano were both in charge of the character designs of the series while Kanetake Ebikawa, Junya Ishigaki, and Kenji Teraoka are all contributing to the mechanical designs.[4]''
Whoa, never realized that the makers of AGE too made Keroro Gunso! Mecha Style/ design for the main AGE [1] Gundam unit is interesting, in that it has subtle hints of the RX-78 Gundam's roundish shape. A great nod and homage to the original Gundam model. very cool I must say!
