Have been rather diligently looking for this piece from the long forgotten reaches of the super robot genre, and although there has been a debate amongst the most hard-core Voltron fans out there, your cartoon show was an amalgamation / butchering of one the lesser known and not so popular in Japan 1970's show: 機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV aka Armored Fleet Dairugger XV.
Chanced upon this listing for the 1980's 'Matchbox' version of the original Gokin Bandai Dairugger XV toy, which was a pretty hefty and huge combination. When fully assembled from a series of 15 (hence the name! duh) -- space vehicles ( 5 x 3 teams of Land, Sea and Air)-- it wasn't too shabby, to be honest! However, like those toys that were ported over to the States in those days, they were almost always 'neutered' in terms of omitting the toy's spring loaded missile launchers, and least not to mention depriving them of their weapons and main power-up swords! Talk about being a total killjoy! If you ask me, the fact that the toys were devoid of any distinguishing weaponry features one of the main reasons not to get this particular version! Here's wishing anybody luck and success in bidding for this awesome toy, nonetheless!
